INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT: GENRE HORROR

Title of the movie: Annabelle
Genre: Horror

Based on the genre that I’ve been given which is horror, I have decided to choose the movie entitled Annabelle. It is a 2014 American heavenly blood and gore movie coordinated by John R. Leonetti. Annabelle is actually a prequel to the 2013’s famous horror movie The Conjuring and therefore the second portion within the Conjuring Universe establishment. The film was propelled by an account of a doll named Annabelle told by Ed and Lorraine Warren. John Form believes he's discovered the perfect present for his eager spouse, Mia a vintage doll in an exceedingly lovely white dress. One awful night, they were attacked in their home. The cultists try and call a devil, they smear a bleeding rune on the nursery divider and trickle blood on Mia’s favourite doll, consequently transforming the previous object of magnificence into a conductor for extreme abhorrence.

Horror movie is intended to provide shocking effect or a terror for audience which is appeared in many styles of different formula. However, based on this movie it is about doll’s horror movie that specially designed associated with creepy doll, victims, murder, and sacrifice. It's noticed that such movies are typically supported true story. Annabelle is closely associated with the previous horror film entitled The Conjuring. Both films have similarities within the opening by showing Annabelle, a creepy doll that terrorizes many characters within the film to point out the connection between them. Watching Annabelle gave the concept of comparing with other doll’s horror movies by using creepy doll, within which it's chosen by the demon because the medium for transcending the spirit.

Therefore, this type of doll usually has the connection with the sects who worshipped demon. The demon chooses a doll randomly to murder the target and find the spirit. Within the Annabelle movie, Annabelle was chosen by the spirit because the medium to murder the target to induce holy spirits because the blood of the demon worshiper trickle onto Annabelle’s eye. This doll didn’t have the intention to murder the victims just just in case there's no spirit in it. Thus, the doll is typically characterized as a creepy thing that's sadistic within the way of killing the victims. Many horror movies depicted it with the spread of blood, even some described the way the doll kill the victims. But this doesn’t happen in Annabelle since the victim kill by falling from the building.

Other than that, the settings utilized in horror movies always created the spooky atmosphere with many settings of gloomy and dark side of the day. The setting of the place is typically founded in a very house, which is portrayed as an old house with spooky environment or neighbourhood. The atmosphere created a haunted sense with the dark side of day. The time shows different year, that relates the traditional era with the fashionable era. Sometimes, the connection describes the existence of the sect that started the history of disembodied spirit and therefore the reason why the curse or worshipped began. In Annabelle, it also shows the new house for a replacement couple who has just moved to there. The place is portrayed with mysterious neighbour in their neighbourhood. It had been in 1969 when the story began. The atmosphere is fully terrifying with evil and mystifying sense.

The narrative structures designed the structure or the flows of the story within the film that defined whether the story is interesting or not. Indeed, it's merely a crucial aspect to draw the audiences’ attention in response to the film. First, it started by the looks of a pair to a replacement house. Although the new one has no relationship with a doll, but they'll become the target. This is often also happened in Annabelle, when a pair (John and Mia) moved to a replacement house. The couple goes to own a baby. Second, the emergence of creepy doll. The creepy doll is chosen to be the character in horror movie because it is assumed because the easiest medium for spirit to fill in. The doll is universally believed to be the place for the spirit to measure in. In Annabelle, the doll may be a gift for his wife who is dolls collectors. Formerly, it had been common doll. But it turns into creepy mysterious doll that terror the owner so as to induce the pure spirit from her child.

Third, revenge or murder the target using creepy doll because the medium. The phobia is continuously done by the creepy doll to murder the target. However, the victim may be anybody although sometimes it's finished revenge. Based on the film, the doll is moving by itself to terror the victims. Therefore, the looks of the doll is mysteriously unpredicted to jolt the viewers. Fourth, exorcism which is finished by priest. There were numerous times the film depicted the trouble of the many people to save lots of the victim from the doll.

However, it's very difficult to flee from the spirit. The doll always has their own thanks to terror the victim. Therefore, the sole one who can save them is that the priest or supernatural power. The priest did the ceremony of exorcism to guard the victims and released the spirit which is trapped within the doll. The doll is saved in a very museum. The last thanks to keep the balance condition or others safety is by putting the doll in a very save box. The box isn't allowed to be opened and it's put within the museum. Nobody is allowed to open the box because it is belief to be the thanks to release the spirit. This movie is additionally has the identical ending by putting Annabelle in a very safe box which is put in a very museum. Annabelle is one amongst chilling movie, which is employed doll because the main character to induce the holy victim to be sacrifice. Indeed, the target is that the children as they need the holy spirits. However, the final pattern of horror formula is that children are saved by the condition. Although numerous times the doll tried to kill them, the supernatural power is usually there to guard them. Thus, the existence of priest and exorcism is notably important to safeguard other target or particularly to defeat the spirit.

To add more, over the years horror films have evolved and there are a lot of changes. Although classic horror movies have helped build the inspiration that modern horror movies use today. Unfortunately, many of the essential attributes of horror films have changed into cliches that affect the quality of the genre itself. It's still disputed whether this genre of film has lost its touch or has gotten better over the past decades. This builds to a climax where they either defeat the disturbance or are defeated by it themselves. There are some modern horror films that have gone above and beyond the traditional concepts of horror and have given the classics a endure their money. There are some movies that go against the graphic, gory conception that individuals have of contemporary films. Based on my own opinion classic horror films are more entertaining because that they had more suspense and better plots. Modern horror movies are all about the blood and gore they have become superficial and mainstream.

There is not any denying that classic horror movies have made an unlimited impact on popular culture. Iconic villains like Chucky have ruined the sleep schedules of petrified children and adults alike for several years. There are some new horror films that have received lots of praise from both critics and also the general public for his or her “terrifying” and “shocking” content. Some viewers even dare to claim that these new movies push horror boundaries and exceed the quality of their predecessors. Some scares could even be effective, the structure of these new films are nearly always the identical, resulting in an overall formulaic and bland execution. Although old-school horror could even be considered cliche nowadays, this wasn’t the case when these movies were first released to mass audiences. The reason why these movies became so successful is because the frights were original, unnerving and innovative after they came out.

Other modern films are moving further far from the concept of horror to explore more psychological themes specializing in societal issues. Although films such as ‘Get Out,’ ‘mother!’ and ‘The Witch’ are captivating films, they are not consider as horror movies. Classic horror movies like ‘The Shining’ and ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ explore psychological themes also, but they're doing so in a very very way that's genuinely frightening. In these films, they explored ideas concerning isolation and religion, which made audiences reflect on society while also getting scared within the method. The foremost famous and revered horror films of our time which is the ‘Insidious’ saga are highly overrated. This movie rely too heavily on jump scares and computer-generated imagery to shock audiences. Although this might provide some momentary fright, viewers leave the rostrum unaffected by the so-called “terror” and are ready to sleep peacefully. This is not the effect that must result from a legitimate horror movie experience.
